Anything highlighted in orange is a decision or a detail still to be filled in. It describes what the app does today. Draft of October 20, 2026. Effective date: to be set at launch.

1. Who we are

Tabmatch ("we", "us") is an online marketplace based in Alberta, Canada. Through our mobile app and this website we connect people who need a service ("clients") with local service businesses and tradespeople ("providers"). This policy explains how we handle personal information. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to us, Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Our privacy contact is [name or title of the person accountable for privacy], at [contact email to be set before launch: set WEBSITE_CONTACT_EMAIL].

For the lawyer: confirm the legal name and address of the operating entity, which law (PIPEDA, PIPA or both) governs which flows, and the accountable person.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work. Here is everything, by where it comes from.

3. Why we use it

  • To create and run your account, and to sign you in.
  • To offer your request to suitable providers and let them answer, by text message or in the app.
  • To let a client and provider chat and, once a provider accepts, call each other.
  • To show ratings and reviews, and to let you save providers.
  • To send notifications and messages about your requests and chats, and (to providers) text messages about client requests.
  • To keep the marketplace safe: handling reports, removing abusive content, suspending accounts that break the rules, and preventing fraud and misuse.
  • To answer your questions, meet our legal obligations, and understand in general terms how the service is used.

We use information only for the purposes we have described, or purposes that are directly related, unless we ask you first.

By signing in and using Tabmatch you agree to this policy. For a request, you also agree to share its details, including your phone number, with providers who may be able to help; the app asks you to confirm this each time. Providers separately agree to be contacted about client requests by text message and in the app (this is how we meet Canada's anti-spam law, CASL). You can withdraw consent at any time, for example by replying STOP to a text, turning off notifications in Settings, or deleting your account (see section 8). Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some or all of the service.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows.

With other people on Tabmatch

  • Providers see: before they answer a request, only the service, city and urgency. After a provider accepts, they also see your first name and last initial, the description you wrote, where the job is, and your phone number (shared by text message and available through the Call button).
  • Clients see: a provider's business name, description, services, cities, rating and reviews. After a provider accepts, you can chat with them and call their business number.
  • Everyone sees: reviews and provider replies, with the client shown as first name and last initial.

When the law requires it

We may disclose information if a law, court order or lawful request requires it, to protect the safety of a person, or to investigate misuse of Tabmatch. If Tabmatch is ever sold or merged, personal information may transfer to the new owner, who must honour this policy.

6. Where it is kept

Our servers and database are hosted by Render in the United States (Oregon). Chat photos are stored with Cloudflare, and notifications go through Google, whose systems may be located in several countries. This means your information can be stored and processed outside Alberta and Canada, and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in those countries under their laws. We require the companies we use to protect it.

For the lawyer: confirm the Cloudflare storage region and whether any contractual safeguards or additional notice are needed for the transfers above.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or the law requires.

Push tokensUntil you sign out, turn notifications off, or delete your account.

A record that an account was deletedKept. It contains no name, email or phone number.

8. Your rights and choices

  • Access. You can ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correction. You can fix your details yourself in the app, or ask us to.
  • Withdraw consent. Turn off notifications in Settings, reply STOP to texts, or delete your account.
  • Delete your account. In the app: Profile (clients) or Profile (providers), then Delete my account. Or follow the steps on our delete your account page if you cannot use the app. Deleting removes your name, email and sign-in, your chats and chat photos, your push tokens and saved providers, and blanks the details of your requests (or, for a provider, the business details). We keep reviews you wrote, without your name, and anonymous records of requests and offers.
  • Questions or complaints. Contact us (section 13). We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

9. Keeping it safe

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. Chat photos sit in a private bucket and are shown only through short-lived links to the two people in the chat. Access to our systems is limited to people who need it, and staff sign-ins are protected. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and the privacy regulators as the law requires.

10. Children

Tabmatch is for adults. You must be at least 18 (the age of majority in Alberta) to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you think we have, contact us and we will delete it.

11. This website

This website has no accounts or forms. At the time of writing it does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Like any web server, ours keeps standard technical records such as your IP address and the pages requested. If this changes, we will update this policy first.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with its date, and tell you in the app if a change is significant.

13. Contact and complaints

Privacy questions, access, correction and deletion requests: [contact email to be set before launch: set WEBSITE_CONTACT_EMAIL]. Mail: [postal address of the operating entity].
